intelligence New technologies in these areas have arrived and are ready to address the most basic goals of reducing downtime and saving production costs The question is whether companies are using them or not In a 2017 survey of more than 100 operations leaders across the re ning and petrochemicals industries KBC a Yokogawa company and research firm IQPC found that adoption of digital technologies is still slow Nearly onethird of respondents said their focus will be on the adoption of proven technologies with new technology mostly on trial Forty one percent and 38 percent said they werent ready to implement solutions built around the IIoT and big data respectively KBC discusses these survey ndings in more depth in the first article of our cover series about asset management and
